On her recognition, Nicole has said:

What does it mean to you to be recognized as a PRSA-NY 15 Under 35 Winner?

It’s an honor! I’ve been so fortunate to have observed and learned from so many talented comms professionals over the years and this is an industry filled with many smart, creative people. To think that what I’ve accomplished is worthy of a recognition like this is a bit surreal and something I feel very grateful for.

What are your top 3 tips for aspiring professionals in PR and communications on making an impact and standing out in this profession?

  1. Follow your passion. The great thing about PR is that you can do it for just about any industry or type of company. So once you’ve established that PR is the right path for you, get as much experience as you can working across different clients in different sectors (provided you’re in an agency setting). You might be surprised by what excites you and believing in the story you’re telling is critical to doing this job well.
  2. Stay curious. Whether it’s learning new skills like social media or digital marketing, or questioning how something could be done differently, this kind of thinking will help you stand out and grow professionally.
  3. Build relationships. This industry (and the news) can feel like it’s moving a mile a minute and a common trap can be approaching the job in a way that ends up feeling transactional. This is a relationship business and it’s important not to lose sight of that. So whether it’s your colleagues, clients, or a reporter you’re pitching, investing the time in getting to know people and truly understand their needs will pay off in spades as you rise in the industry.

How has PRSA-NY helped you and why is it so valuable?

PRSA offers valuable ways to bring the community together, allowing PR professionals to connect with industry peers. Whether you’re just starting out in the industry or have been practicing for decades, it’s a great place to learn from one another and stay informed about where the industry is headed.

SourceCode was recently named PRWeek’s Outstanding Boutique Agency of the Year and a Top Place to work in PR. We’d like to thank PRSA and congratulate Nicole on the recognition.
